They See Me (Lobster) Rollin' :: Maine Road Trip Day 1

- Shout out to IngridNilsen on Instagram for the inspo behind this series of blog post titles!

For my 30th birthday we took a road trip up to Maine with two goals:
1. Eat all the lobster rolls
2. Drink all the beer

I vaguely remember going to Maine as a child,
but this was our first time going Portland, Maine

What I Wore: glasses- Warby Parker, lips- Trestique "English Rose" via Ipsy, necklace- gift from Mom and Nonna, top- Dollar General, jeans- Abercrombie, flats- Kate Spade, bag- vintage Coach {thrifted}

Started our adventure with an green tea ice tea and cookie from Two Fat Cats Bakery

While waiting for check in to our hostel,
we got our first lobster roll at Highroller Lobster Co.

We definitely started off strong,
this lobster roll was AMAZING.
A little pricey at $19... but it was really good.

They had a great beer list too,
Charlie had the Bissel Brothers and enjoyed it.
I had the Finback "Orange Crush" and it was also really juicy!

We had a hard time finding where to stay in Portand,
we initially looked into many Airbnb rooms but they were pretty expensive & not that cute.

When I found Black Elephant Hostel, I knew this was the place,
just LOOK at how cute this place is!

We decided on The Lemur Room because it was a single bedroom and had its own bathroom:

I love the wallpaper in this place,
this was the ceiling in our room:

The room was small but absolutely perfect

The bathroom was so cute,
I want my bathroom at home to look like this,
plus they provided Dr. Brommers peppermint soap!

After settling in we hopped back in the car to head to "Industrial Way"
to check out some craft breweries.
I love this idea, it is a industrial complex with different breweries on each corner,
it is across the street from Allagash Brewing Company,
so awesome, every town needs this!

I loved all their IPAs, especially the doubles

After that we headed to One Industrial Way to check out some other awesome breweries:

2nd stop was Battery Steele:

I had the "Onsight #10 Experimental IPA" and the "Endless Ride Sour Ale" and both were amazing,
I think these were my favorites from the whole day:

Battery Steele also had great music and where brewing when we were there,
two jams we listened to automatically got put on the 2018 Jams Playlist on Spotify:

Next stop was Austin Street Brewery:

We did a full flight and every beer was so good!
I love the vintage tray it was served on:

I love this PCR art of some beer yeast,
I love science in real life

I love these little framed hops 80s style:

Our last stop in the industrial complex was Foundation Brewing Company:

Charlie picked up a new hat at Austin Street Brewery and was lookin' so cute!

We also had a lobster roll from a "street vender" here and it was so good!
Beers were great too!

Allagash was closed which was unfortunate,
but I knew we would come back to check them out

We headed back downtown and went to Maine Lobster Shack for another great lobster roll
and a great IPA from Maine Beer Company

Loved the boat theme of this restaurant

Complete with a life raft as a mirror in the bathroom:

We spent the rest of the night walking around downtown Portland:

We finished with some amazing cocktails at Venas Fizz House & the staff was so nice
Loved all the embroidery in the bathroom too!

Stay tuned for Day 2 & 3 this week!
