Campin'

For the last two days I have been camping with over 300 sixth graders on the Appalachian Trail.
Needless to say I am exhausted and aching all over.
 It was so beautiful

We explored the stream and caught crayfish and little fish

We attempted to catch frogs in the pond but ended up only catching salamanders.

We hiked 3 miles of the Appalachian Trail...
This is where the sunburn and hurting occurred...

But the view from the top of the Ridge was breathtaking!

Had to get a picture to prove I did it =)

We did have a bit of a storm...

Our cabin:
This is where no sleeping took place...

Of course I get cabin #13 with this written on the wall:

 my bunk

Next morning, the calm after the storm

We did team building activities:

There were deer everywhere and they would walk so close to us!

In the far distance you can see the ridge where we hiked.

& last but not least, the swamp.

Quite an adventure!
I wish we did cool things like this when I was in middle school.

Even I learned so much about succession and the environment!

thirsty thursday

Lately the fiancé has been in a DIY drink phase, and I say lately but in reality he wants to open his own brewery.
I will teach and run my thrift store and he can make beer, perfection. {one can dream}
Turned out pretty darn good!
Get your own kit at Midwest Supplies

Then I got to DIY something that I have been meaning to try since Denver last year...

Cucumber vodka & tonic = so refreshing, easy to make, perfect for summer

We have also have started making Sangria:
Red

& White

Both require wine (we use 2 buck chuck from Trader Joes: Red- Merlot, White- Sauvignon Blanc)
A shot of brandy
citrus fruits, strawberries and peaches.

Now all I need is a cute little Bistro set to sit on and drink outside this summer:
I am currently crushing on these:

Need to do some Pier1 shopping to deck out the deck...

brights for a gloomy week

I find myself wearing my brightest clothing when it is ugly outside. Some sort of over compensation thing I have got going on...
The last few days have been gross, therefore I wore my newly thrifted highlighter blazer.
What I Wore: neon blazer- thrifted Rescue Mission in Trenton, polka dot blouse- frock candy, sequin undershirt- AE gift from mother-in-law, levis jeans, rain flats- llbean. Glasses: Tortoise  "Tamara"- c/o Proopticals Bag: banane taipe in midnight magenta

Speaking of brights, this brightened my day:
Success my The Webter for Target order arrived and wasn't stolen this time!

The prints are even prettier in person =)
Can't wait to rock this in Mexico!

Worth the wait & the reorder =)

weekend of leather shorts

So last weekend started with the graduation of one of my best friends (and my grand little in my sorority)
I can't believe it, time flies!

that outfit was then transformed into leather shorts and leopard loafers.

not gonna lie: I wore these leather shorts all weekend.
you will all be tired of seeing them by the time it is winter again.

Then it was home for mothers day!
I love the way these two cuddle

pretty Jersey landscape

pop makes the best mojitos

 & the Rangers win!!!
move on to play the NJ Devils & won the first game against them on Monday.
looking for another win tonight!!

1st watermelon of the season!
I can eat a whole watermelon in one sitting. Yes. By myself.

 Once again leather shorts and leopard loafers {sensing a pattern?}

Oh and what did I get mom for mothers day?
Not going to lie- I had no good ideas and I hate to get something just to get something
But she fell in love with my pink one, so a red one was in order =)

Oh and speaking of shopping:

To who ever stole my The Webster for Target flats off of my door step on Mother's Day:
Hope you're a size 6.

Thanks Target for the refund, to say thanks I ordered the shirt from my wish list too =)

Buy Converse Trainers at Very

There is quite possibly no item of footwear as iconic as the Converse All Stars. Remember Will Smith tying up his ‘vintage 2004’ pair in hit sci-fi movie I, Robot, or Twilight star Kristen Stewart turning up at the MTV Awards in 2009 having paired a Spiderman-style mini dress with a pair of black hi-tops?
The fact that a veteran action movie star and an actress who is synonymous with the girliest film franchise of all time can be linked via their Converse trainers just shows how versatile these wonderful shoes are.
The diversity of styles is brilliant – you may think of Converse as belonging with a pair of skinny blue jeans, the epitome of sartorial Americana, but if Kristen Stewart can pull off the ‘smart dress with Converse’ look, not to mention Lily Allen on stage, then you can too. If you buy Converse trainers at Very, you can compare styles and view customer feedback, helping you find just the right pair to customise your look.
The festival season is fast approaching, so grab a pair to dance to your favourite band and just change your clothes each day: your shoes can stay on. Achingly cool model Agyness Deyn has been snapped accessorising her Converse All Stars with a tie dye maxi dress at California’s Coachella festival, proving that a pair of wellington boots isn’t the only way through the mud for intrepid festival-goers.
The classic Chuck Taylor All Stars is the style we all think of when we think of these shoes, and they come in a variety of vibrant colours for both men and women, as well as for kids. Try hipster green for children to give them instant fashion cache, or red polka dot for extrovert teens. Navy or black will go with literally anything, and white will give you a clean and sporty look.
The Speciality Ox Converse All Stars, which are designed for urban wear, have a thick sole that will keep your foot cushioned and comfortable no matter how much you pound the pavements. Very offers this twist on the American classic in several colours and patterns both new and retro, so in the space of a few clicks your feet will thank you forever.

I personally own these babies:

Well owned, I had the pink ones since 8th grade and left them in a small village in Costa Rica during a service trip for the kids there =) Truly a classic.
