On this day the rainbow road brought me full circle 

as I was invited as a guest speaker at my first alma mater Rider University

to teach a "Sustainability in Fashion" class!

Felt good (and a little stressful) to get back in the swing of teaching!

Like riding a bike!

But it was very full circle for me!

I squealed when I saw the announcement.

Remember when I did the "Color of the Year 2019" project 

for my Fashion Forecasting class at The Fashion Institute of Technology?!

This was my project 👇🏼

I even blogged about it!

Not going to lie, I like mine better.

I had to reach out to my professor and she was just as excited!

You already know I am fully into this color trend.

I realized that I purchased an outfit that fit both of 2021's Colors of the Year 

from Old Navy:

Midtown Uniform

I was watching one of my favorite YouTubers, Philip DeFranco and was surprised to find him discussing a little bit o' fashion! 

It was about the "Midtown Uniform"- button down, vest and slacks

{they even have a dedicated Instagram... @midtownuniform}

& about how Patagonia is no longer accepting new finance clients for corporate vests.

Patagonia has been known for sticking to their company values & this seems to be another step.

(seeing Patagonia's VP of Public Engagement speak at FIT 

& the Worn Wear rig was one of the highlights of my education)

Although it is a little too warm out to wear one of my cherished Patagonia vests, 

I found myself in a little Midtown Uniform of my own...

although arguably a more fun/fashionable version if I do say so myself.

with a degree is Associate Degree in Fashion Business Management!

Going to FIT was one of the best decisions I have ever made,

 still can't believe I really went for it!

& they were recently ranked one of the best fashion schools in the world 2019!

Since graduating I have worked in NYC as a Fashion Copywriter for A Second Chance,

and now as a Fulfillment Coordinator for Wholesale at Julie Vos.

Wow how life has changed from teaching High School Biology in NJ...

& I am loving every minute.

I can sow a button.

A little bit of a

When I was taking summer classes at FIT last summer, 

I was one of two people in the student lounge doing HW. 

I waiting for my sister to be done with her internship so we could take the train home together. 

A guy wondered in with a button in his hand and a sad and dismayed look on his face. 

He approached me and said, "Can you sow a button?"

I took out my headphones and said, "Um, I think so. Can I see what the button looks like?"

It was a grey tweed blazer that was definitely a couple sizes too tight 

(probably why said button popped off)

The button was a normal flat button but the other one was sowed on with extra string 

around the base to lift it up and give it more movement. 

I said, "Yeah I can do this" and he was so thankful. 

He gave me a little FIT sowing kit and left me to sow.

When he came back he asked, "So are you in the designing program here?" 

I said, "No, business"

& he said "Oh, how did you learn how to sow"

I said, "My Nonna (my Italian grandmother) taught me and if she found out that 

I didn't help you sow this button she would be upset with me"

When it the button was secured back on the blazer, he told me I could keep the little sowing kit 

& paid me $20.

$20?! 

What a good deal.

So hit me up if you need any buttons sowed, 

$20 is the going rate.

Does that go on my resume?
