exercising shopping self control… my new job… Anthropologie!

I have some exciting news!
today I started my new job as a part time sales associate at Anthropologie!

I stopped by for a knob for my guest room door and I saw this sign,
I was hoping to get into retail this summer for experience with working in a shop,
since owning a boutique is a dream of mine {first step vintage store- InTheLeopardCloset!}

I decided it was time to put my self out there and apply!
I had a hard time deciding what to wear to the interview but I was between these two blouses:

Once I decided on the more natural tone look,
I put together the rest of the outfit:
Paired the blouse {from Plato's closet} with Levis Jeans {Marshalls} / belt- thrifted / leather heels {Target} / bag {3.1 Phillip Lim for Target} / glasses- BonLook /  necklace- baublebar

What I Wore: glasses- BonLook, necklace- baublebar, top- {via Plato's Closet}, tank- NY&Co, jeans- Levis {via Marshalls}, heels- Target, bag- 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target

After my first day {& a whole tour of the store… I had to pick up a few pieces that I have been eying for a few weeks now}

This lace & neon floral blouse is so cute, a little itchy, but adorable!
{$29}

This striped blouse with floral details was only $9 and has everything I love!

This olive green blouse has an amazing texture but the zipper detail did me in!
{$29}

So I did a little damage but am prepared for my first week of work with great options!

 I also have some things on my wish list:
these elephant print shorts are amazing! {$78}

These Gabiru D'Orsay sandals are amazing, love the leaf detail in the leather {$170}

I MUST HAVE this Mara Hoffman x Anthropologie candle $36 - as soon as that discount kicks in this will have a home in my bedroom...

Also loving these eye print pants from Mara Hoffman x Anthropologie {$248}

One of my favorite pieces from the collection $158
& can't get enough of the Baublebar x Anthropologie collection {$30}
I'll take them all please =)
So excited to get retail experience in this pretty place!

Congratulations! I worked at Anthro for just over 7 months before I left to pursue my most recent full-time job (among other reasons...) It's a fun place to work, and it allowed me to revamp my entire wardrobe with beautiful pieces... the downside to that being that I wasn't bringing home much of my paycheck once all was said and done! Which store are you working at?

Working in Princeton, NJ. I know I am going to have to try really hard but it is a hobby job since I will still get paid from teaching over the summer!

Did you run into huge scheduling issues when you worked for Anthro? I just had to quit because they gave me a series of shifts I already requested off. It was impossible to find coverage! What was that like for you?

Scheduling was an issue for me in more ways than one. When I started there I was working another part-time job that I wasn't happy at. After a few months of doing both, I approached Anthro about wanting to quit my other job but I wanted to be sure I'd be able to get full-time hours at Anthro. They assured me that it would work out and so I went ahead and quit my other job. It worked out for about a month but then after the holidays I was lucky to even be working 20 hours a week. It definitely wasn't enough to sustain me. There were also a few instances of being scheduled on days I had already asked off for, but the scheduling manager recognized that it was her mistake and didn't make me find coverage. Overall, the scheduling wasn't the reason I left, but it definitely was part of the downfall of my employment there. I had a few other issues that would be too lengthy to discuss here!
